Auto Accidents – If you are the driver in a collision that causes injury, you are required to fill out a report with the DMV within 72 hours. Both your insurance company and the other driver’s insurance company will want to talk to you. Both may want to take recorded statements. Is that a good idea? Should you sign their medical authorizations?
The other driver’s insurance company may be offering you money to settle the case, and the collision just happened. Your car needs to be repaired. Are you entitled to a rental? After it has been repaired will your car lose some of its value?
Maybe you are unable to work due to your injuries. How is your wage loss going to get paid? What does the insurer require to open a wage loss claim? Can you get treatment with the medical provider of your choice? Sometimes your own insurance company will question what your medical providers are doing for you and want to send you to one of their doctors. What happens then?
